About Angels

SUPPORTING HARROGATE SPECIAL CARE BABY UNIT
in loving memory of Casey Ann Abram Hines.

Angels charity was set up in December 2008  as a way of giving something back to the special care baby unit at Harrogate district hospital.

Casey was born healthy, but after a short while developed problems. She was taken to the S.C.B.U. but despite their very best efforts, died at just 3 hours old.

Katie and her family decided to focus their energies into raising money to buy a baby therm platform for the S.C.B.U. as a token of thanks to them and to try help parents who find themselves in the same unfortunate circumstances.

The charity started in December 2008 and the first event was a chest and leg wax on men. We have also organized race nights, pudding clubs and attended limetree festivals to raise money for the cause.

‘ We are proud to be associated with such a worthwhile charity as Angels and wish Katie and her team all the luck in the world. For anyone to lift themselves from such a tragedy to devote their life to helping others who find themselves in such an unbearably devasting situation is so commendable. All in the limetree team are in awe at the spirt you all show and we will help you in any way we can.’

The main aim of the charity is the relief, care and treatment of premature, sick newborn babies and their mothers in Harrogate district hospital’s maternity and special care baby unit. This is achieved by providing and assisting in the provision of specialized medical or surgical equipment and improved amenities and facilities which would not have otherwise be provided by the authority responsible for the management of the hospital. It is also to support and assist the families of such babies who are or who have been patients of the unit.

All income comes from personal donations and sponsored events as organized by the trustees of the charity
